Transport fleet maintenance costs analysis and comparisons
Abstract
The paper analysis and compares the vehicle maintenance costs in a transport company with a heterogeneous fleet. Vehicle preventive maintenance in the observed company is down to the regular truck service, and vehicle corrective mainte¬nance covers all other types of repairs. Regular service of Mer-cedez-Benz Actros trucks costs about 380 euro for 120.000 km travelled, while in Scania trucks costs about 700 euro for half the travelled distance. For Volvo FH12 trucks the small vehicle servicing costs about 350 euro and large vehicle servicing costs about 650 euro. Compared to the purchase of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros truck, it would be more cost-effective to purchase a used car of the same brand with no more than 500.000 km travelled. The usage of that vehicle would pay off in just over 2 years taking into account the monthly profit of one such vehicle of 2,027 euro.
