On the other hand, the highway operator wants to use the optimal number of resources thus decreasing Opex. In some cases, adaptive optimization is used in toll plaza operations optimization. In order to be able to apply adaptive optimization of toll systems, it is necessary to develop an algorithm and mathematical model, in addition to the software solution. Keeping that in mind, this paper presents an example of optimizing the operation of the toll plaza for the present and for the forecasted traffic demands in 2030, by using the queueing theory (QT). The first part of the paper dealing with the description of the problem, theoretical review of the literature and the QT model. Through the second part of the paper, a real example of the toll plaza was analzyed, through the modeling of the participation of different payment methods (automatic and manual). Finally, the results and discussions are given at th end of a paper. ER -
