Children behavior when crossing the street at a traffic playground - experimental study
Abstract
World Health Organization estimates indicate that every year more than 150.000 childrens die from injuries sustained after traffic accidents, making this one of the four main causes of death in young children over five years of age. Young children are at greater risk of traffic accidents due to their individual characteristics, such as physical characteristics, weak perceptions of space and time and so on. For these reasons, an experimental study was conducted, which aims to examine the behavior of children when crossing the street at a traffic playground. The results of this study show statistical significant gender differences, as well as differences between the area of children residence and the age of the children.
