Abstract

The research on the performance of motor vehicles and engines powered by compressed natural gas from a safety and environmental perspective is aimed at improving the existing and developing new models for analyzing the safety indicators of motor vehicles with compressed natural gas methane and developing a unique model for assessment of the impact of these motor vehicles on the environment in the road transport of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the use of alternative fuel. Evaluation of the impact of these buses on the environment was carried out from the point of view of external costs in road traffic, or the cost of emission of exhaust gases of motor vehicles. The research results of this work are characterized by a high level of adaptability and applicability in relation to other concepts of buses with alternative propellants, but also in relation to other categories of motor vehicles in the process of performance evaluation from the point of view of safety and environmental impact during the exploitation of motor vehicles in road traffic. Also, the results can be applied at different stages of designing motor vehicles in order to improve safety features and strategic decision-making processes when forming a sustainable transport system.
